For thos of you who do not do the FB group
Just so people know, I know a few people have had an issue with the way sd is right now and to give you a place to still play if you're unhappy at sd but want something familiar, I put up a Havok site. you can get to it at havok.thedragonscodpiece.com port 8989
There will be a website going up for it at some point as well. That is not to say give up playing sd I still love it and like playing and will continue to support and help it. But I figured I would host and alternative for people as well, to give everyone something to try. I plan on slowly coding it over to the pathfinder rule set for anyone who wants to help as a side project. It's just for fun.

Thank you, Macbeth. That is appreciated.
Perhaps you might add in some of the ideas posted here.

Indeed I very much like the random mobs and treasure idea and a number of others. gonna have to pick thru them and start figuring out how to make them work haha.
Anyone is free to contribute ideas and can always lend a hand. I just need coders and zone proofers to look things over. I will put it all up on the website for people to check out once I get around to putting one up later. But first to finish SD's.

Yeah it is Havok distributable alright, crashed it unintentionally in about one minute. Just as a counterpoint, a friend and I have had a modified Havok distributable up and running for around ten years now where I have done a lot of code changes. It was never made public as it was never playtested fully and I haven't looked at it for about seven years.
82.131.67.19 : 7777
None of the changes are documented, but if anyone is interested take a look and ask me if any questions.

Yeah I was working to get a newer version up or whatnot or finding someone to help with it a little. I was mainly just putting it up as an alt for people to play with.

Well as I said before I have a copy of Havok up and would want to know if anyone would be interested in helping me get it running stable or try getting the newer copy compiled and running. If so let me know as I think it would make a fun alt playsite for SD or a place for people to try things.
As it had been stated before, the havok code is a good proving ground to see if things work or not. and I think it would be fun to get people involved in something again and still be able to play sd.
And Maxum kudos Sir I have been poking around yours a bit and its very nice. You do very good work sir and I truly thank you for all you have done for sd. If you would want to help just let me know. I still want to keep havok going as havok so I didn't want to ask about your copy since you changed the name and such, I figured you may have plans for it sometime.
Anyway just throwing that out there once more, I'm off to bed now.
Have a good night all.

I thought Havok was still up and running somewhere, but I have no idea where. Not really keen to get involved in another mud, if I wanted to code on a havok, I would code on my one . If you email me crash logs or compile errors, I can try and remember how/where we fixed them if you are coding yourself.

Havok's been up the whole time.. it's been at havok.beirdo.ca:6969 for years. if it had a workable playerbase, I would have immediately gone there rather than roll on sd. They started making some design choices that turned me off, but a lot of it seems to have been reverted.. either way, I've always felt that Havok was better in many ways - after all, going there is why a number of us left SD in the first place.

Some years ago I played havok (havok.beirdo.ca:6969), but I was completely alone for weeks and there was Always lag. My character (erpel) still exists but he's 134 years old and he dies each tick. Would anyone be so kind to help me compile havok or dale3? Unfortunately both the projetcs (https://github.com/Beirdo/havokmud/commits/master/ and github.com/rebl/DaleMUD/commits/master) seem to be incomplete and abandoned...

Try the distributions on sourceforge. This is where I committed my last bit of work. Once you download the latest distribution and get it working (maybe 2004), then you can work on updating the latest version of commits. sourceforge.net/projects/havok/Had some neat ideas that never made it to production too but can't remember what they were, been ages. I do remember a new form of transportation in the mud that I was working on. Was kind of neat, the mud read in a bitmap image of the world, and with that, users were able to board ships, and sail the open seas using the textbased sea charts to navigate. The ships were little 3-4 room zones that users could walk around in. Added a new demension to the mud, but unfornuately, never moved forward with it due to work and other commitments.

I did use the one from sourceforge actually. but it was a little to buggy so I took it down a little while back.

That did sound like a really great idea, Greg! I think Anthony (Gordon) showed me some small rooms one of y'all made to kinda show the idea off
