Should figurine mobs be aggressive? Sure Shadowdale is a dangerous place, but is that an oversight, bug or feature?

I think in this particular case it was an oversight on the creator's part (although Haze tells you 'Armande was pretty good at doing things intentionally').
In general, I don't think they should be - Doesn't make sense to have a summoned creature go ballistic on unsuspecting chumps. I think people got punished for intentionally dragging the poison giant along SD, this doesn't seem much different.

Maybe tie it to charisma, for the chance to control the summoned creator

I like the idea of a form of check on using figurines, probably using level or ego. Actually a quick version would be to level limit all figurines.
Anyway, I will change any that are flagged aggressive to not.

I don't think most figurines should aggro anything unless commanded to. Most magic items that summon things put them under your control. Maybe 'cursed' items or things that summon demons or something...
